Dareen Hakim is a Lebanese handbag designer who incorporates Arabic calligraphy into her bags with beautiful messages like “Smile and the world will smile back at you”, and “Habibi” (My Love, in Arabic).

Dareen received her MBA from Harvard Business School and developed her skills and discipline on Wall Street, working to advise young businesses and large corporations. Following an early career in finance, she decided to transfer her talents into industry and pursue a lifelong interest in fashion and beauty. After managing worldwide beauty brands at L’Oreal Paris and Maybelline New York, Dareen finally ventured off on her own and pursued her dream of building a one-of-a-kind fashion line. Naturally, she began with her favorite accessory … handbags. Check out this interview with her in the Huffington Post. Hat tip maiziyada

This is such a beautiful story, and one of my favorites.
But what irks me more then anything is when people don’t put proper credit on things, so I’m gonna do this story some justice.
It’s called ‘Bittersweet’ and it was written by the amazing Brian Andreas. If you’ve never visited his site Story People you should because you will love it.
